A Video Game Strategy Guide…Do You Need One?
Video games have become more and more complex and there is a need for video game strategy guides to become good at playing them. It’s true they’re now considered a must have for anybody who wants to profitabley navigate any adventure game. Ideally, most gamers want to beat a video game by their own efforts alone. With today’s unbelievably challenging games, you can get some props for facing such a difficult task. Your friends will be amazed if you don’t have to consult a single video game strategy guide while playing your favorite game.
Hard to believe but I’ve been using video game cheats and strategy guides since I had the original 8-bit Nintendo. The video game cheats we used back then were pretty archaic. There were only eight buttons that you could push, so every video game cheat was a combination of up, down, left, right, b, a, select, and start. They were pretty easy to remember, and we were always trading them with our friends. Many times we would get lucky and find one.
Nintendo even published video game strategy guides and so did the video game makers. They were really positive for video games like The Legend of Zelda. These games would have a long series of riddles that you had to solve and adventures that you had to complete. Being able to have the video game strategy guide available was great when you got stumped. These guides didn’t dwell on cheats so much as tell how to decode the riddles.
Many of the PC games also required video game strategy guides too. I remember that I used to love playing the King’s Quest games. The games were so hard it took a video game strategy guide to get your way through. Video game strategy guides can get to be a regular book of up to 150 pages long for most popular games. They were more like books than “guides.” The games were already so hard that it was like reading a novel to find your way through the webwork.
This trend hasn’t changed as video game developers continued towards more and more complex video games with increasingly complex strategy guides. I remember when I purchased the Empire Earth strategy guide a number of years ago. It was at least one hundred fifty pages long! I’ve heard that this is not exceptional for video game strategy guides today either. Some of them are even longer. Still, I guess that’s what you need to get through a confusing video game.
You’ve probably figured it out by now that unless you’re a genius on the level of Einstein you’re probably going to have to invest in some video game strategy guides if you want to become successful with your favorite video games. I would suggest not using them though until you absolutely have to so as not to take away the challenge that your video game offers you. You got the video game in the first place for that main reason didn’t you? Then when you absolutely need to, break out your video game strategy guide and eventually crack the code.
