Why Stainless Steel Jewellery is the Latest Fashion Trend

March 5th, 2009 admin No comments

Steel jewellery is made from stainless steel, which is almost unbreakable with normal usage. It is carefully constructed by carving a solid piece of steel into the desired shape. Steel jewellery has many advantages, thus, somewhat making it a very good value compared to other types of jewellery. Although relatively new to the marketplace, stainless steel jewellery, has started to become very popular as people begin to notice the benefits of choosing stainless steel jewellery.

Trendsetting:
Stainless steel jewellery is very versatile and works with various fashions and styles. Gold and silver jewellery tend to be worn at formal occassions. One of the best things about stainless steel is that it can be worn at both informal and formal events. Also, stainless steel jewellery is proving to be a trend setter. It lends itself to many different looks from high fashion and designer ladies bracelets to biker and goth jewellery and unusual mens pendants.

Durable:
In addition, the fact that it is more hard-wearing than its precious metal counterparts means that you can wear your stainless steel jewellery every day with out fear of damage or wear and tear affecting its great looks. You should not worry about spoiling your jewellery through wearing it too much.

Easily Maintained:
Stainless steel jewellery is low maintenance too. Unlike silver or gold jewellery you don’t have to spend all your time polishing it to keep it looking presentable. In cases of damages and major scratches, steel jewellery can be easily repaired by simply polishing these damages without causing any further damage.

Hypoallergenic:
Stainless steel jewellery is also helpful if you have skin sensitivities. Since stainless steel is essentially different in composition than other materials usually used in jewellery, it is amazingly hypoallergenic, thus, attracts more and more wearers especially those sensitive to other materials to wear this type of jewellery. Steel jewellery does not tarnish. There’s also no need to be concerned about your jewellery discoloring your skin, it’s not some jewellery made of composite alloys.

Good Value for Money:
Finally, stainless steel jewellery offers trend lovers a way to accessorise cost-effectively, since it tends to be cheaper than gold or silver jewellery. This means that not only can you enjoy your latest jewellery, but you can also leave a bit more cash in your pocket while doing so. And really, when everyone is looking for ways to save cash, what could be a better way to benefit from stainless steel jewellery?

Jewelry Trends at the 2009 Oscars

February 28th, 2009 admin No comments

Statement pieces were the order of the day from celebrities on the 2009 Oscar red carpet.
Few chose to wear bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings together, instead most opted to wear either a singular wrist cuff or necklace to up the glamour without looking too flashy.

Perhaps with a nod to the current economic recession the stars certainly seemed to be focusing on a singular signature piece rather than piling on the bling. In terms of colors and designs, silver seemed to be the front runner in the fashion stakes rather than gold. This gives fans a great opportunity to copy the latest red carpet looks at a fraction of the price.

The message from the Oscars seems to be wear one main piece of jewelry, with very very simple styling, not beaded, and classic rather than edgy. The stars seemed to have been advised to wear either a necklace or a bracelet but not both!

Kate Winslett lead the way with a simple but elegant bracelet with diamond earrings. Supporting actress nominee Taraji P Henson just wore a stunning diamond cuff-style necklace in what appeared to be a flower design.

In contrast, Heidi Klum seemed to get the look wrong and over did it with multiple ladies bracelets and very large sweeping earrings which curved around her face.

Stars always want their couture dresses to do all the talking, there were a lot of understated earrings, in button rather than drop styles. Button style earrings always enhance the overall look, but don’t distract from the dress. One wearer who stepped out wearing the exception to the understated earrings of her fellow celebrities was Angelina Jolie. Angelina chose to wear large vibrant Fred Leighton emerald drop earrings and a matching emerald cocktail ring. In keeping with the trend though, she appeared without necklace or bracelets so retained a cool, classic look.

For men designer jewellery and decoration, apart from cuff-links, are barely noticeable – we didn’t spot any mens bracelets. {Brad Pitt did show off some fancy metallic shirt buttons, and a few other male stars chose to wear a simple silver brooch on their tuxedo lapels}.

However the jewelry talking point of the night had to be Mickey Rourke’s choker style mens necklace. Nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Wrestler, Rourke appeared on the Oscar red carpet wearing a pendant around his neck bearing a photo of the his deceased dog Loki the chihuahua, along with his cream Jean Paul Gaultier tuxedo and open-necked shirt.
